Hi Ozymandias, All units sold after the firmware update release will naturally have the latest version installed. We have the release candidate in field with a few testers and so far no issues found. If you are waiting with your purchase for the new firmware release, please get in touch with JVB so you can get a notification as soon as the units with the new fw are ready. Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi MultiChMaven, Well, for the next generation of the product, why not . For now you can simply add a decent HDMI switch and it would do the job just fine. Hi Martin, Thank you for your question. To be honest, although it is something technically viable, I would not expect a huge market for such solution/module. It is also something that is the opposite direction of what we intended with the VanityPRO. The previous generations of the Vanity modules were designed to work with OPPO players, which wasn't an universal solution and we all know whaby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Esosa, Thank you for your suggestions. Some basic multichannel processing should be possible to do. Some additional downmix scenarios would be just natural extension of what is already there for DSD4.0. For the rest, some development effort would be needed. Also we would like to see if it would make sense to implement such basic multichannel processing and speaker management in comparison toby AP - VanityPRO
Hi MultiChMaven, Thank you for your input. We have been playing with the multi-channel I2S output module for a while. The option with 4xHDMI connectors for I2S output is probably the most practical idea, since all other connectors and pinouts such as RJ45 are not that common. Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Egradyh, Although nothing can be ruled out I would say it is unlikely that there is anything wrong with the VanityPRO itself. On the other hand, feel free to get in touch with JVB if you wish to try a second unit. We have the beta of the new firmware with our field tester, if everything is ok you can expect to have the new firmware in a day or two. So maybe it would be worth to try the new fiby AP - VanityPRO
Hi egradyh, Thank you for your post. We are aware of the dropouts you have been having with your Berkeley Alpha through JVB. The DAC should not be susceptible to small frequency variations of the VanityPRO. I haven't heard about any other VanitPRO user with the Berkeley DAC, but we would only hear from those requiring some assistance. What is a little bit suspicious in your case is the irreby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Ozymandias, The 4.0 DSD downmix is only available with DSD to PCM conversion. There is no easy way to mix raw DSD signals. We are looking into the options for the firmware loader. So far it runs well under Windows, but I appreciate not everyone uses it. The new firmware is nearly finished testing and should be released soon. Hi Ecess, Please email us on the ap@ email or use the web form to send us a detailed description of your setup and the issue you experience. We would like to know which version of the VPro you have, how it is connected to the DEQ2496 and what HDMI audio source you use. I am sure we will get to the bottom of your problem. Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Steve, We are in the final testing stage, please allow a few more days. The new firmware will be announced here. Thank you for your patience :-) Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi jjksat, Thank you for your question. I think I have seen it on the ASR forum as well In theory this approach can work well, I guess the only thing that should be verified is if the OPPO is really capable of splitting the external HDMI stream on HDMI input into audio and video portion between the two HDMI outputs. If that works then it would be a perfect solution for handling the audio and vby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Karl, In general, using a power supply with dual output should be fine. There can be special situations (ground potential difference between the HDMI domain and the audio domain) when having isolated power supplies would be beneficial for the system performance. The rule of thumb is, if all the AV equipment is powered from a single wall socket (or gang of sockets on a single phase) one shouldby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Karl, You are welcome. In that case you should be fine! Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Karl, Thank you for your question. I think you can easily see the VanityPRO as a high quality multichannel PC Audio interface. We have tested it with multiple PCs, desktops as well as laptops with mostly good results. But, to be completely honest, sometimes we experienced issues with the Windows HDMI Audio drivers. For instance, the sampling rate was limited to 48kHz only, in some other caseby AP - VanityPRO
Hi fabry660, apart from the obvious things such as the VanityPRO being a stand alone product with HDMI input and different output options, there are a few less obvious differences. First, being an external product, it is not restricted by the quality of OPPO's internal power supply. There is also the dielectric barrier to isolate the noisy environment of the OPPO player. The signal processiby AP - VanityPRO
Hi yuryzorin2, Thank you for your question. To be honest, I am not sure if I understand correctly. The HDMI output of the VanityPRO is just a video pass-through, the audio has been stripped down to be processed in the DSP section of the unit. If you are asking about raw and native DSD output, but no DoP, the only alternative that comes to my mind is SDIF-2 or SDIF-3 interface which then has nothby AP - VanityPRO
Hi fabry660, Good question! Allow me to elaborate on the latency added by the VanityPRO. The total added latency of the VanityPRO has two parts. The first is the HDMI interface latency, which would be similar to any other HDMI splitter/repeater and is expected to be in the range of 1-3ms. The second part is the audio subsystem latency. For PCM signals this would be around 65 samples which isby AP - VanityPRO
Hello, This post will hopefully help to answer most frequently asked questions. I am sure there will be more, so we will keep adding the Qs and As in here. Q: Does VanityPRO decode Dolby Atmos? A: The VanityPRO does not have multichannel Dolby decoders. The primary purpose of the VanityPRO is bit-transparent LPCM and DSD audio data extraction from the HDMI domain with significant suppressionby AP - VanityPRO
Hi everyone, Here are the first two reviews of the VanityPRO! Audiophile Style Audio Science Review There are also associated discussions raising a number of questions regarding the purpose, usage, HDMI version, Dolby decoders and similar, which we will try to address in a separate FAQ document. We will keep this post updated with new reviews or product discussions in other forums.by AP - VanityPRO
Hi Guolive, Thank you for the feedback! The digital volume control is already there, hiding in the audio menu It is not something we though one would use as a normal volume control, i.e. using the VanityPRO as a "digital preamp". But it is still there to adjust the global output level, should you need to. Limiting the PCM sampling rate to 96kHz (2x) or upsampling everything to 192kby AP - VanityPRO
Hi folks, Let's start another discussion here, this time about new features. The VanityPRO has two important characteristics. The first one is FPGA based audio processing and the other is complete software upgradeability. Therefore, we can implement and deliver new audio processing (or control) functionality via easy-to-apply software updates. Here I would encourage everyone to discuss whatby AP - VanityPRO
Hi everyone, I would like to start a discussion here, if anyone has an idea for a new Output board. Currently, the VanityPRO can be purchased with four different Output boards: [*] Stereo [*] Multichannel XLR [*] Multichannel RCA [*] Multichannel BNC We also have a prototype of an I2S Output board with D-SUB connector for testing, but due to different connectors used and non-standard pinoutby AP - VanityPRO
Hi everyone, Based on numerous request to explain the advantages of the VanityPRO we have written up an article covering the topic with some theory as well as measurements. Hi Captain, Thanks for that. Upgrade from the V203? It depends. The core functionality is very similar. It is the separate power supply and overall flexibility of the HDMI connectivity. As long as you UDP is operational you should be fine. :-) We have tested the VanityPRO with multiple BD players (OPPO, SONY, Panasonic) without any issues. Fire Stick as well. Hello everyone, You might have been wondering why there isn't much happening around here. Well, we have been a bit busy with something that hopefully is worth the extra patience. It is basically a wrap up of the whole Vanity series, but this time not as a module for someone else's player, but as a stand-alone box with HDMI connectivity. Please welcome the VanityPRO: It does eveby AP - News & Announcements
Hi Ricardo, The solid ground connection has to be between the OPPO/Vanity and your DAC. The reason is the I2S signals have common reference on both sides. For SPDIF it doesn't matter because it is transformer isolated, I2S is not. Regards, Pavelby AP - Vanity203HD (discontinued)
Hi yage, Correct about the LEDs, when they flash simultaneously as the clocks are being adjusted. HDCP on downstream HDMI can surely be the reason for the OPPO refusing to play 192/24. Try to play the DTS disc with no HDMI device connected to the OPPO and see. You can use the mobile app to control the player if there is no screen connected. Regards, Pavelby AP - Vanity203HD (discontinued)
Hi Ricardo, The 3V3 pin is just a +3.3V power provided in case you need to power an intermediate active converter, such as LVDS or similar. The pin doesn't need to be connected. If you are unsure, please consult your intention of connecting the I2S between two devices with someone with electronics skills. The connection has to have a solid low impedance ground connection between both sidesby AP - Vanity203HD (discontinued)
Hi yage, Yeah, the forum is still active! :-) - Try to find a setting in your DAC to relax the ESS loop filter bandwidth (DPLL). With some DACs based on the ESS parts the tiny frequency adjustments on Vanity's digital clock recovery system may cause momentary "unlocks" of the incoming signal due to too strict DPLL setting of the ESS part.
