Hi fabry660, good to hear that you were able to resolve the dropouts! Also kudos to Audiolab for making the DPLL setting available to the user. As for the filters, it is hard to give a general recommendation, but I would start from the sharp 88.2kHz filter and listen if there is any change going to slow 88.2kHz. For second listening test I would start again from sharp 88.2kHz and switch to 176by AP - Vanity203HD (discontinued)
Hi Chris, Thank you for your question. Simply from the technical specs perspective, I cannot see any reason why the combo of the VanityPRO with the Clarity M meter would not work in your suggested scenario. The only thing that caught my eye was that the digital inputs of the Clarity M meter seem to be limited to 48kHz sampling rate in surround mode and 96kHz in stereo mode. Not sure if this isby AP - VanityPRO
Hi all, It is my pleasure to announce that we will attend the IPS show in Munich this May. The IPS runs in parallel with HIGH END at the same time and the same location. You can find us at booth B09 in Hall 1. We will be showing the designs and technologies with the following products: * FPGA and XMOS eval board * VanityPRO HDMI processor * CZAP Digital to Analogue Converter * Avariceby AP - News & Announcements
Hi fabry660, I have replied to you via PM. The only thing I can think about is the DPLL bandwidth setting on the MDAC. Please try to modify it and see if it helps. On another note, what an interesting modification of the player! Would you mind sharing more photos of the modified player? It looks like you even have a custom made back panel made with the XLR connectors! It would be great to seeby AP - Vanity203HD (discontinued)
Hi Karl, Thank you for the update! I am glad to hear that the EDID editor works well for you. Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Fred-ql, We have a few modules with field-testers for us to collect as much real usage experience as possible before official release. It is the first product of its kind - HDMI audio to USB audio converter - and we want to make sure it works well in various usage scenarios. We will inform about the official release here and on the website. Thank you for the patience. Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Jan, Thanks for the update. We are always happy to help. Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Bas, Thanks for the suggestion. This should not be difficult to do. We might add it in the next software release. Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
A slightly lighter topic for change. I quite like the Echo Dot for it's easy way to play music and I always wanted to connect the Dot to the main stereo system, which has only digital inputs. There is no digital out from any of the Echo devices. Only the more expensive Link has digital out, but lacks other functionality (no voice control). Hi all, We have implemented the first version of the EDID editor for the VanityPRO. It will allow the user to change certain default EDID parameters - both audio and video. On the audio side there will be all standard speaker configurations available, which will be useful specifically for the Stereo version of the VanityPRO to prioritize stereo mix playback at the source. The video parametersby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Bob, Here is the first teaser of the new feature of the VanityPRO, which is the EDID configurator. When a HDMI sink is connected to the TX port, the video EDID translation from TX back to the RX port works just like before. But if the VanityPRO is used as a sink without anything plugged into the TX port, you can change certain EDID parameters that will be reported to the HDMI source. [*] Vidby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Sisyphe, I think that most people who bought the Vanity203HD module still use it with their OPPO. I also think that unless the OPPO dies of old age there are not many reasons for those people to sell either the module or the player or the whole combo. We still might have one or two modules as engineering samples or production spares. Please PM me or send us an email via the contact form for mby AP - Vanity203HD (discontinued)
Hi Karl, Thank you for your words! In fact, you can help if you are able to download the EDID from the HDfury with which the VanityPRO works in your setup for us to analyse it and include those options in the EDID editor planned for the next firmware release. Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi OnaIp, Thanks for elaborating! If you have any other idea for a new feature or functionality, don't hesitate to share with us. Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Karl, Thanks a lot for sharing your experience here! I am sure many users will find this useful. I would only add that the way the VanityPRO works with regards to EDID handling between the TX and RX ports is that it should always report the "correct" multichannel audio capabilities to the source. If there is a sink (PC monitor) connected to the TX port, only the video part of thby AP - VanityPRO
Hi OnaIp, That explains a lot! It seems that the channel ordering discrepancy between CTA (consumer) and ITU (professional) really does exists. As for the surround channels, my observation was done using a BD player, where you would expect consistent performance. Anyhow, thanks again for sharing your knowledge! Best Regards, Pavelby AP - VanityPRO
Hi OnaIp, Good suggestion, thanks! Isn't ADAT limited to 48kHz per channel in 8-channel configuration? I think beyond 48kHz there is some multiplexing over multiple light-pipes going on. It has been a while I did anything with ADAT, so time to refresh the knowledge . Hi OnaIP, Thank you for your suggestion. Removing the LFE channel as a menu option is of course very easy. With the current downmix implementation if you just leave the LFE channel ON then no downmix of the LFE channel into the front stereo occurs. Then, if there is no sub and nothing is connected to the LFE channel, it effectively discards the LFE channel. Or maybe I just don't understandby AP - VanityPRO

Hi James, Thank you for your question. To be honest, I don't know enough about the OKTO DAC to be able to comment on the buzzing issues with Sonore devices. If it is related to the DPLL setting of the ESS dac chip inside the OKTO, that should be easy to solve by a firmware update. As for the DoP playback issue, I assume that you are playing an SACD (or DSD track) from the Sony player anby AP - VanityPRO

Hi Jim, Thank you for the question here as well as via the contact form. For the benefit of other visitors I will just repeat what I replied to you directly. Although we haven't tested Dolby Vision pass through in flesh, the HDMI subsystem of the VanityPRO should have no issues with Dolby Vision. It supports 12-bit Deep Full HD, Full 3D, HDR and 4K2K 60Hz video with 18Gbps bandwidth, basicaby AP - VanityPRO
Hi Bob, Thanks for sharing the connection diagram! We seem to be able to modify the RX EDID reported back to the HDMI source, so hopefully in the firmware V5 there might be some EDID options, or at least the default EDID can report resolutions utilizing the maximum bandwidth (4k2k/HDR/60Hz) of the HDMI subsystem. Also we plan to add indication and support of the compressed bit-stream formats paby AP - VanityPRO
Hi all, Some exciting news on the USB Output Module option! The board is up and running and one can get up to 8 channels from the HDMI interface via USB into a PC with the internal processing of the VanityPRO still engaged. Another useful feature is the asynchronous resampling to a fixed sampling rate. This module basically turns the VanityPRO into a multichannel HDMI Audio to USB Audio converteby AP - VanityPRO
Hi edo, The HDMI output (pass through) is hard wired to carry HDMI signal and it would not be easy to mux with I2S. We will take your suggestion of I2S via HDMI for the stereo out module on board. The tricky bit would be the same as for the multichannel version - there are just too many different pinouts, even signals in differential pairs swapped from the original HDMI pinout, that makes it virby AP - VanityPRO
Hi shamov575, Thank you for your suggestion. If I understand correctly, to convert 5.1 mix to 7.1 you only replicate the Surround stereo to Surround Back stereo and have the same signal played via both pairs. That is certainly doable, I would only question if there is any level variation, because if you just replicate the signal it would come out twice as loud. Hi Bob, That sounds exciting! Once we get the USB output board working it should be super easy to get the HBR (compressed formats) material into a PC for decoding. Please keep us posted. Hi there, I would like to discuss two topics here, both closely related to channel mapping in standard 5.1 and 7.1 multi-channel configurations. If we look at the CEA-861(ancient revision D) channel mapping table below, all 8 channels are numbered and their presence in various configs is labeled with the channel id. Two configs are highlighted - 5.1 and 7.1: 1. Odd-numbered are left channby AP - VanityPRO
Hi all, We have been busy working on some fixes and improvements! The DSD 4.0 downmix in the original firmware wasn't probably very useful for many. Also, there was a little bug in the mixing algorithm and some customers pointed out that the Center/LFE channel mapping in the second stereo pair was incorrect (more on this in another thread). Therefore, we have reworked the downmix from sby AP - VanityPRO
