I have been using the Vanity with the Trinnov Demon and a custom cable for a year now.
I happy to report it works flawlessly and sounds just amazing.
The custom cable was complicated. The Trinnov has a DB25 AES input.
I was lucky that my entire home theater is wired by the same company so I commissioned them to do it. I attached a pic of the cable.
To make things more complicated, channels 7 & 8 of the DB25 I wanted routed to a standard XLR cable for stereo input instead of the Vanity. Trinnov allows for configuring any I/O and since I am 5.1 and not using channels 7/8.
Trinnov does give the option to output digital to DAC's but it is with the same DB25 terminal. In the Pro world it seems the DB25 AES is used for both I and O.
When I got the Trinnov everyone insisted it has an amazing DAC so my custom cable does not output. One day I'll probably try, but would have to create a new custom cable.
The Trinnov gives feedback:
Everything coming out of Tivo is 48khz, even non HD 2 channels & Netflix.
Netflix from Oppo is 44.1khz. I had some SACD's that registered as 88khz. Every BD I tried is 48khz.
